Today is Thor's day, which probably means we should make a sacrifice to the gods, since everything I've seen about the Norse god lately has portrayed him as particularly evil and terrible – with the exception of the Marvel Comics version . I suppose the gods are capricious, cunning and grotesque in many ways, especially the gods of warlike people. Bloody and stormy seems to be just the thing for the God of Thunder. But I digress. It's Thursday and we have a Strands puzzle to solve!

Strands is the latest game in the New York Times puzzle game series. It's a fun twist on classic word search games. Each day we are given a new topic and then have to reveal all the words on the grid that fit that topic, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of those words is this Spangram This goes from one side of the grid to the other and reveals even more about the topic of the day.

This is, in my opinion, a slightly trickier Strands concept than usual, especially because I started looking for tea types and was really struggling. Even when I found CHAI, it didn't work (although I soon realized it had to be part of Spangram). Strangely, I found ANISE first and then CARDAMOM. After CINNAMON, I worked my way up from CHAI and found MASALACHAI. From there it was all pretty easy, but this one definitely left me a bit amazed!
