Amazon Prime members can now get 10 cents off gas – but they have to submit their details first

Amazon has introduced a new benefit for Amazon Prime members that, for $139 a year, allows members of its loyalty program to save 10 cents per gallon on gas at around 7,000 BP, Amoco and other gas stations in the US. This comes after Walmart has offered a similar discount to members of its Walmart+ program for four years (at 13,000 locations).

Amazon estimates members will save an average of $70 a year with the new perk – and the company plans to realize savings on electric vehicle charging at BP locations starting next year.

“We're constantly looking for value for Prime members, and perhaps the most comprehensive and popular additional benefit we can offer is fuel savings – we're excited to offer this to Prime members,” said Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime in a statement.

How do I sign up for the 10 cent gas discount on Amazon Prime?

Assuming you're already a Prime member, visit amazon.com/fuel savings to either open an Earnify account or link your existing account. This is one of the first times Amazon has linked a Prime account to an outside company.

How do I get Amazon's 10 cent gas discount at the pump?

When it's time to refuel your car, head to a participating Amoco, BP or Ampm gas station. (You can find the nearest gas station in the Earnify app.) Enter your phone number at the pump and your discount will be activated.

Is Amazon's gas discount a limited time benefit?

No. Amazon has not set a time limit for this new Prime benefit. It's expected to be a permanent benefit, similar to free two-day shipping and access to Prime Video.

Are there any catches with Amazon's 10 cent gas discount?

Nothing big. You'll give Earnify, which is owned by BP, some personal information, but honestly it's no more than if you signed up for the service organically.
