BREAKING: Golden Knights sign Shea Theodore to seven-year extension

The Vegas Golden Knights have signed Shea Theodore to a mega, seven-year, $7.425 million AAV contract extension.

The contract calls for Theodore to remain with the Golden Knights through the 2031-32 season and will pay him a total of $51,975,000. The 29-year-old is in his eighth season with the Golden Knights and is off to a good start, scoring one goal and seven points in his first six games.

Theodore is the all-time leader in goals, assists and points among defensemen with 67 goals and 229 assists in 496 games.

The original underdog is one of the best offensive defensemen in the NHL and has been alongside Noah Hanifin, Alex Pietrangelo and Zach Whitecloud for several years.

Many insiders and fans believed that there was a possibility that Theodore could have been moved last offseason. Once Jonathan Marchessault and Chandler Stephenson hit free agency, the likelihood of Theodore re-signing with the Golden Knights increased.

The organization prides itself on being one of the best defensive teams and has one of the best blue lines in the NHL, and Theodore plays a crucial role. The deal encapsulates the wonderful relationship the Golden Knights and Theodore had.
