Olivia Munn shows off her mastectomy scars in the new SKIMS campaign – and her message is encouraging

Olivia Munn is officially done feeling insecure about her scars.

On Wednesday, October 23, the 44-year-old actress took to social media to share some stunning images from her latest SKIMS campaign and proudly showed off her post-mastectomy scar. Back in March, Olivia revealed that she had been battling breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy following the diagnosis in April 2023.

Alongside the carousel of four photos, Munn wrote: “In the middle of this latest @SKIMS campaign shoot, I decided I'm no longer afraid of my mastectomy scars. Every mark that life has left in my body is proof of how hard I fought. I hope other women who are aware of their scars see these photos and feel all the love I send.”

The New girl Alum added that it was “meaningful” to be part of a campaign that supports research and helps those affected by breast cancer. SKIMS even donates a portion of its bra sales to the Susan G. Komen organization.

Of course, I had to check out the comments section expressing support for Olivia's inspiring move.

One person wrote: “Thank you all the scar girls.” Another shared: “Thank you for doing this for all of us. I avoid the mirror after showering but you inspire me to think differently.” And a third agreed: “I LOVE my lumpectomy scar!!! It’s a daily reminder of how tough and resilient I am!!!!”

“You’re still beautiful. “Scars only show a character created through battle,” read another comment. And one user summed it up perfectly: “THE SCARS ARE STRENGTH, MAMA LIV.”

Even Kim Kardashian got in on the love, posting one of Munn's photos to her Instagram Story with a simple “Hell yeah.”

It's hard to believe that sharing her scar wasn't even part of the original plan.

On Wednesday's episode Today Show further explained to Munn, “It was just about making her shapewear and her new leggings, and it wasn't about my scar at all.”

But things changed when the makeup artist mentioned that it would be “really hard” to cover up the scar. At that moment, the mother of two decided to embrace her journey.

“I looked in the mirror and just thought, 'I'm tired of worrying about my scars.' So I went to the SKIMS team and said, “What do you think about showing my scars in this campaign?” They were so amazing and thoughtful and wonderful. And we talked about it and decided to do it,” she recalls.
