Alabama player makes completely stupid comment about playing at Alabama

Alabama offensive lineman Wilkin Formby gave Missouri free bulletin board material.

The Crimson Tide are currently having a pretty disappointing season despite a 5-2 record. That's a record that many teams would like to have.

However, we all know that's not good enough in Alabama. Losing to Vanderbilt and Tennessee and looking terrible against South Carolina and USF simply won't be tolerated.

Alabama player Wilkin Formby says he “feels sorry” for Missouri.

You'd think given the situation in Tuscaloosa, the players wouldn't say much at all. The only focus would be on the play on the field.

Formby decided to take things in a different direction this week with some comments that I'm sure the Tigers players will like.

“I think the most important thing is we’re just going to show — I’m sorry for Mizzou. Because we suffered a defeat and we are very focused on ourselves. It's all about us. We're just focused on ourselves. “We're just focused on dominating our opponent and what we have to do,” Formby said during an interview with Crimson Tide Sports Network, according to 247Sports.

“I’m sorry for Mizzou.”

Really? Really, Wilkin? You feel sorry for Missouri? Tim Robinson would like to speak to you briefly.

I had to double check that it was real and not a joke. It's very real and very stupid! Alabama hasn't looked good since the team's halftime win over Georgia.

They narrowly beat South Carolina and then lost to Tennessee after that terrible performance. In the latter game, receivers pretended to play basketball on an extremely important play that failed.

Now one of the team's offensive lineman is out here talking about how sorry he is for Missouri. If I were Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz, I would put this on a giant poster in the locker room.

It's incredibly stupid that a player on a struggling Alabama team would talk such nonsense. That's certainly not Nick Saban's program anymore. He would have been exposed if a player had done this while he was running the show in Tuscaloosa. Under Kalen DeBoer, the standards seem to be much looser.

You can watch the Alabama/Missouri game at 3:30 EDT on ABC. For DeBoer's job, he'd better hope the Crimson Tide wins. Hit me with your predictions [email protected].
