Jahmyr Gibbs runs 70 yards to give the Lions an early lead

DETROIT – Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs' speed was on display as he broke through the Tennessee Titans' defense and burst down the left sideline into the end zone for a 70-yard touchdown on Sunday.

It was a career-long run for Gibbs, also known as “Sonic,” helping Detroit take a 14-7 lead at the 3:47 mark of the first quarter. Before that play, Gibbs' longest run was a 45-yard touchdown in last week's win at the Minnesota Vikings.

He now has the second-longest rushing touchdown this season, behind Baltimore Ravens star Derrick Henry's 87-yard rush in Week 4.

Gibbs reached a top speed of 22.03 mph, which is the fastest top speed reached by a Lions player as a ball carrier since 2016, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.
