Arsenal let two leads slip at home to Liverpool and also lost two outstanding defenders.

( MORE: Summary, highlights of Arsenal 2-2 Liverpool )

Here are the player ratings for the Gunners and Reds after a thrilling 2-2 draw in north London.

Arsenal player ratings vs Liverpool

David Raya: 6 — Two saves, two goals allowed. As always, good possession of the ball.

Thomas Partey: 6 — Virgil van Dijk had nothing to worry about as the Dutchman nodded his head at the corner, but otherwise he was the busiest man on the pitch as the play caught his side. He has played 21 duels and won 13. Add to that the fact that he's not a right-back and perhaps we should rate him higher.

Ben White: 7.5 – Was brilliant from the jump, intercepting an early ball from Liverpool and later hitting Bukayo Saka with the long ball assist to make it 1-0.

Gabriel Magalhaes (Off 54'): 8 — Almost perfect before I left with an obvious muscle injury. Strong in duels and on the ball, shines even in the absence of William Saliba.

Jurrien Timber (Off 76'): 8 — 30 touches and good passing with a solid performance against Mohamed Salah who had two shot attempts and a total of 0.11 xG+xA when Timber left the game.

Declan Rice: 7 – Your average influential Declan Rice day.

Mikel Merino: 7.5 — Started rusty, finished

Leandro Trossard: 5.5 — A non-factor. Watch him run as Liverpool prepare for their second goal.

Bukayo Saka (Off 85'): — How much more dangerous are the Gunners with this man in the team who has now scored ten goals this season? His goal was fantastic and it gave Robertson fits.

Gabriel Martinelli (Off 85'): 6.5 — Lost Luis Diaz on the corner kick goal and looked a little out of control and sloppy, but was one of the game's leaders in xA and touches in the opposition penalty area. We will trust the numbers over our eyes and give it a point.

Kai Havertz: 5.5 — Quiet day, could have handled the corner better off the post which van Dijk headed back for Liverpool's first goal.

Subs
Jakub Kiwior (54th minute): 6 — Apart from his position in Liverpool's equaliser, he wasn't bad.
Myles Lewis-Skelley (76th minute): N/A
Gabriel Jesus (85'): N/A
Ethan Nwaneri (85th minute): N/A

Merino leads Arsenal 2-1 over Liverpool

A delicious cross from Declan Rice finds the head of Mikel Merino, who converts Arsenal's second goal of the first half against Liverpool at the Emirates.

Liverpool vs Arsenal player ratings

Caoimihn Kelleher: 5 — It's not his fault he's not Alisson, but he's certainly a step down from one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He had to take three shots in the 2-1 defeat.

Andy Robertson (Off 63'): 5 — Active but below average. Roasted by Saka on Arsenal's first goal.

Ibrahima Konate: 8 – Hardworking and strong in the air, he is credited with six recoveries and as many clearances.

Virgil van Dijk: 7 — Showed resistance and scored the Reds' goal in the first half.

Trent Alexander Arnold: 6 – Created the chance for the Reds' second goal, but was erratic in passing and not good at the back.

Ryan Gravenberch: 7.5 – Good forward as a maestro and in defense as a stone in Arsenal's shoe.

Curtis Jones (Off 90+1'): 6 — Quite a change from the match star against Chelsea, but he was good with the ball and made a good save from Gabriel Jesus at the back post.

Alexis Mac Allister (Off 63'): 5 — No glaring mistakes, but a quiet hour, certainly.

Luis Diaz (Off 63'): 7.5 — Good execution of Van Dijk's goal. His 31 touches of the ball came in a whopping 19 duels.

Mohamed Salah: 7 — He was mostly kept in check by Timber and achieved his goal. There is no discount as Gabriel and Timber were substituted off the pitch.

Darwin Nunez: 7 — Twenty-six touches of the ball in 90 minutes isn't great, and he may have been involved in as many physical collisions. Some of them were dirty and he could be one of the biggest villains in the Premier League right now.

Subs
Dominik Szoboszlai (63rd minute): 6 — For a strong player he is in a slump of form.
Cody Gakpo (63rd minute): 7.5 — Surprised he didn't deserve more time on the pitch.
Kostas Tsimikas (63rd minute): 7 — Calmed the heated right side of the Arsenal attack.
Wataru Endo (at 90+1'): N/A
