Stephen Nedoroscik sends fans into a frenzy as he hilariously quotes Superman memes as inspiration for his Dancing With The Stars performance

Stephen Nedoroscik referenced his viral Clark Kent meme while performing a Superman-themed paso doble on tonight's episode of Dancing With The Stars.

The 25-year-old Olympic gold medalist rose to viral fame after fans compared him to Superman's alter ego online following his performance at the Olympics this summer.

“I'm obsessed with this guy on the U.S. men's gymnastics team whose only job is to stand on the pommel horse. So he just sits there until he's activated like a sleeper, takes off his glasses like Clark Kent, and performs a pommel horse routine that helps the team win its first medal in 16 years,” read one of the memes about Stephen.

And Stephen referenced the viral moment in his dance with his professional partner Rylee Arnold, 19.

“After the Olympics, everyone said I was Clark Kent. I sat there and meditated, took off my glasses, gave it my all and came home with bronze,” Stephen said on DWTS while preparing for the show.

“And people started calling me Superman. Without that meme, I would never have been there, so I'm really excited.”

The dance began with Stephen alone on stage, in a suit, with elegant black glasses and his hair slicked back in the style of Clark Kent.

Smoke billowed in front of Stephen as he swapped the suit for a striking red look with a top printed with the American flag.

The gymnast then dramatically threw off his glasses – apparently in reference to the viral meme.

He kissed his tense bicep before his partner Rylee accompanied him on stage for an electric Paso Doble to the Superman theme song.

The jury was impressed by Stephen’s performance.

Carrie Ann: “You are so much fun! From bronze to gold. That was gold! You are so much fun to watch. The likeability factor in your routine is so incredible. And that's because you do everything with total commitment. Your lines, your extensions were really beautiful. We have a few form issues that we will take care of later in the season. But yay! Superman is in the house!” raved Carrie Ann.

Derek had a few suggestions, but overall he was a big fan: “There's no denying that you're so charming on the dance floor. You fly around like a bullet. I love the dancing movements, the kneeling across the dance floor…”

“The butterfly, there are so many things crammed into it. There are a few little things, the kryptonite, you know, the hips are a little bit back, you push them forward, open the chest, pull the shoulders down. But dude, I love you!”

Bruno said: “I love Superman and superpowers. You have so much energy. But now you have to learn to control it. You can't attack, attack, attack, attack, attack, attack forever. You need finesse. Sophistication… Don't expect anything. Punch, punch, punch, but then we need a caress.”

The dance received a total score of 22
