Acerbi's expected return date will be determined after medical tests

Inter have issued an official update on Francesco Acerbi's condition as the result of medical tests confirmed the defender will almost certainly miss the Nerazzurri's game against Juventus on Sunday.

Acerbi was substituted half an hour before Inter's 1-0 win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico with a muscle problem and his participation in the upcoming Derby d'Italia was already unlikely.

An official statement released by Inter said that Acerbi suffered “a strain in the biceps femoris of his left thigh”, as revealed by an MRI scan carried out on Tuesday.

While his condition will be “assessed daily”, the centre-back is not expected to take part in Inter's home game against arch-rivals Juventus.

As Sky Sport Italia reports via Fcinternews, Acerbi should return to his team's away game in Empoli on October 30 or at the latest in the following game against Venezia.

The 36-year-old was just one of two Inter players to be injured during their game at the Stadio Olimpico, as Calhanoglu was substituted minutes before the Italian defender with a similar muscle problem and will also miss the game against the Bianconeri.
