Alabama High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams – October 22

After several breathtaking results, the On3 Massey Ratings Top 25 The state of Alabama has changed a lot for many as we enter the final week of the regular season.

Saraland is now at number 2, while Vacuum cleaner is now No. 6. Both Clay Chalkville And Phoenix City Central suffered losses and therefore fell a few places in the top 10.

Below are the updated top 25 teams in the state of Alabama as of October 20th.

Back: No. 1
Auburn returned to the road and earned another impressive win over the weekend, defeating No. 16 Montgomery Carver 29-14. At 8-0, the Tigers only have one regular season game left on their schedule, a home game against 4-4 Dothan on Friday. Auburn has momentum at the top of the rankings with the postseason looming.

Back: No. 5 (+3)
Thanks to multiple losses across the state, Saraland is now No. 2 in the state and has an 8-0 record after being throttled 58-7 by Murphy last week. The Spartans now have the No. 3 offense in the state according to Massey Ratings and will now complete the regular season this week at 5 p.m Theodore.

Back: No. 3
Despite a 27-26 home loss to Hoover over the weekend, Thompson remains ranked No. 3 in the country heading into his final game of the regular season. The Warriors are now 6-3 and have three ranked wins on their record. You will complete the campaign at home Prattville this week.

Not surprisingly, Hewitt-Trussville put together another impressive offensive performance over the weekend, defeating Oak Mountain 63-0. The Huskies are 7-2 and still have the top five offense and defense in the state according to Massey Ratings. Trussville will finish the season 0-8 Tuscaloosa County on Friday evening.

Clay-Chalkville suffered its first loss of the season over the weekend, losing 21-10 on the road to Oxford. As a result, the Cougars have fallen three spots in the national rankings and are now 7-1 in 2024. The reigning national champions remain on the road this week and will hit the road Pinson Valley before ending the season on Nov. 1 against No. 13 Vestavia Hills.

Hoover went on the road and defeated Thompson over the weekend for its biggest win of the season. The 7-2 Buccaneers are now looking for top-five status in their final game of the campaign and now field the third-best defense in the state, according to Massey Ratings. They house No. 13 Vestavia Hill to wrap things up this week.

Opelika continues to emerge as a legitimate threat to win a state title. The most recent example of this is a 23-14 win over Phenix City Central last week. The Bulldogs are now 8-1 and have two ranking wins under their belt. A trip to Montgomery carver will end the regular season on Friday evening.

Central's late-season spiral continued last week as the Red Devils fell for the second time this season with a 9-point loss to Opelika. Since the cancellation of her game against IMG Academy last month, things haven't quite gone right for the former No. 1. At 6-2, Central will look to get back on track with a win over Lowly Jefferson Davis this week before we prepare for the postseason.

Oxford made a statement over the weekend, holding then-No. 2 Clay-Chalkville to just 10 points for a commanding 11-point win, improving to 8-0 on the year. The Yellow Jackets continue to answer the bell and now have a very visible path to a 10-0 season. They will go to Huffman this week before the regular season ends in Florence.

Like Oxford, Spain Park remained unbeaten at the weekend as they secured a 42-7 win at home against Calera. The 8-0 Jaguars from Birmingham have a top-15 offense and defense in the state according to Massey Ratings and continue to look to the role heading into the final two games of the season Chilton County and in Gardendale.
