“All Glory Be to Jesus”: How TikTok sensation Forrest Frank won the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year

TikTok sensation Forrest Frank is taking the Christian music industry by storm with his feel-good songs that celebrate God's goodness and blessings.

The 29-year-old was recently named the new GMA Dove Awards Artist of the Year and told the audience that while he is grateful for his growing accolades and achievements, he is focused on what matters most – glorifying God.

“This is all for Him and everything I do is for the Lord,” he said during his acceptance speech.

“For some reason he decided to give me some songs that had something to do with some people. And if he turns it off and stops giving me songs, then that's cool. And if he continues to bless it, then that's cool, great,” Frank continued.

He added: “I want to continue to give glory to Jesus because one day my name will disappear just like all of ours. But at the end of time and for all eternity one name will remain. And that is the name of “Jesus Christ.”

Frank began his music career in 2017 as one half of the pop duo Surfaces. He told Crosswalk Headlines that he was writing worship songs at home when he felt God calling him to share them with other people.

“In the peace and quiet of my home, I just started writing these worship songs and I felt like God was telling me to put one out,” he explained. “And I did, and it just took off. The very first video I shot of it just went viral. So I made another video of it and this one went viral…It wasn't like I was a genius or did anything and God completely blessed it and it was completely over me.

It took about 11 years for Frank to become a huge success. His upbeat songs such as “Up” and “Good Day” have received frequent airplay on Christian radio and are also used as background music in social media videos.

The new father has more than six million monthly Spotify listeners and four million followers on his social media channel. His “God Is Good” EP reached the Top 5 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart and the song won the Frank the Dove Award for Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year.

Last year, Frank received Billboard's Top New Christian Artist award.

This summer, the Christian artist released his first full-length album, Child of God. Shortly after its release, it became a number 1 hit on iTunes across all genres.

The budding artist shared that he is “beyond thrilled” with what God is doing with his career.

“It's downright hilarious that he would use someone like me to do this work… but I guess he likes to use the least qualified people,” Frank continued. “Or maybe it’s the prayers and generational blessings, I don’t know… but I don’t deserve that. I'm just out here doing what I love and he continues to make it happen. Thank you for listening, sharing and supporting. Let’s do this forever.”

The songwriter told ChurchLeaders.com that God orchestrated his career perfectly with the understanding that everything came from Him.

“I think God orchestrated my career perfectly to get me to where I am now,” he said. “He actually gave me a very successful song early in my career and I could actually feel it. I allowed it to puff me up a little.”

“Later in that career we started turning down offers, saying no to things, and I actually started running away from success and everything,” Frank continued. “And in this peace and quiet this success came. And now I just stay at ground level. I stayed at ground level the whole time.”

“All glory to Jesus,” he added. “And whatever’s going on, it’s all about him.”

Frank says he wants to encourage young people to be courageous and not to put off “shining out the light of Jesus until later.”

“You don’t know whether Jesus will come back tomorrow. They say he comes back like a thief in the night,” Frank told Crosswalk. “So don’t wait until tomorrow because Jesus could come back in 10 minutes.”
