TRENTON – New Jersey parents, did you know?

Sunscreen is currently labeled as an over-the-counter medication in New Jersey and has been for decades. This means that it is technically banned in schools – meaning students are not allowed to have it on them or use it while attending school.

This classification creates a hurdle for students to reapply sunscreen during the day, with the only exception being a doctor's note.

FREEHOLD – A 37-year-old Monmouth County woman has been accused of using her former employer's corporate credit card to rack up more than $80,000 in personal charges – including a renovation to her own kitchen.

Nadine Hurd, of Long Branch, has been charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced Monday.

The union further accused the United States Maritime Alliance, which represents the ports, of continuing to “block the path to an agreement before the contract deadline.”

“The shipping companies represented by USMX want to make whopping billions in profits in 2024 while offering ILA Longshore workers an unacceptable wage package that we reject,” ILA said in a prepared statement. “ILA Longshore workers deserve to be compensated for the important work they do to keep American commerce moving and growing.”

Desperate residents isolated by washed-out roads and a lack of electricity and cell service in western North Carolina lined up Monday to get fresh water, days after Hurricane Helene ripped through the southeastern U.S., killing more than 100 people.

Government officials and aid groups worked to airlift and truck basic supplies to the hard-hit tourism hub of Asheville and surrounding mountain towns.

The first round of ANCHOR property tax refunds is scheduled to begin later this month.

New Jersey Department of Revenue officials expect direct deposit payments to be made by mid-October.

If you received the refund last year, the state automatically reapplied for you. The application deadline ends on November 30th.
