Another superstar, WR, was considered a trade target by the Pittsburgh Steelers

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been touted as a “name to watch” at the NFL trade deadline by NFL insider Dianna Russini. Samuel has been the subject of trade rumors since Brandon Aiyuk signed a massive four-year deal to remain with the 49ers.

The 49ers are just 3-3 in a muddy NFC West and could look to lower Samuel's salary. Still, the 49ers restructured Samuel's contract before the start of the season to maximize cap rollover room through the 2025 season, quashing thoughts of a deal.

This could happen in the middle of the year as the financial burden is eased somewhat as the season progresses. If Samuel is on the trade market, expect the Steelers, who have searched the entire NFL for a WR2 alongside George Pickens, to be there from the start. The Steelers had already called the 49ers about acquiring Samuel in the offseason and would now be interested in doing so.

The Steelers are reportedly evaluating Jets wide receiver Mike Williams and remain interested in signing him after attempting to sign Williams during the offseason. Samuel would be pretty much the best case scenario right now if he were available.
