The situation in Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast is deteriorating. The city is preparing for the Russian invasion: fortifications are being built on the streets, locals are being advised to evacuate, and there are no plans for winter heating.

Quote: “Unfortunately, concrete pyramids in residential areas are the Pokrovsk of today. The enemy continues to destroy the city, as was the case with Bakhmut and Avdiivka. As promised, rescue workers, police, social workers and public utilities will still be on site until then.” At the last moment, however, it became clear that there would be no heating season in the city.

Details: There are currently 12,000 residents living in the city, including several dozen children. 40% of Pokrovsk is without electricity.

Serhii Dobriak, the head of the military administration of the city of Pokrovsk, calls on residents not to hesitate and evacuate. According to him, invincibility centers will continue to provide people with warmth, but the scenario will change as the line of contact gets closer and bombardment increases. (Invincibility Centers are heated spaces equipped with food and energy storage to help residents in trouble due to power outages – Editor's note).

In early October, the Estonian Defense Forces Intelligence Center predicted that Ukrainian forces may be forced to withdraw from Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast by the end of the year.
