Antonio Pierce talks about what the Raiders want from new Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins

Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins scores a touchdown past Green Bay Packers cornerback Eric Stokes.

After the Raiders traded Davante Adams to the Jets, he played immediately. So it's safe to assume that the Chiefs' newest receiver could be ready to take on the Raiders this Sunday.

DeAndre Hopkins may not be the elite receiver he once was, but he was a 1,000-yard receiver just last season when the Titans had good QB play, and now he's joining forces with Patrick Mahomes the best QB in football, making him an immediate threat. The Raiders and every other opponent of the Chiefs will have to answer for the rest of the season.

Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce spoke Wednesday about what he expects from Hopkins and the Chiefs on Sunday.

“You kind of have to look at it twice, right? We know they're going to have some plays for him, get him in there and learn the playbook. But to be honest, no disrespect to Hopkins, this offense is still going to 87 (Travis Kelce) and (Xavier) Worthy in the vertical field. So I'm sure that just like in years past when he's traded for certain players, Andy (Reid) will find that role on those six or whatever a lot of pieces he has for that gentleman.

“You are talking about a proven veterinarian who has worked in multiple systems. It won't take him long to learn, just to get him up to speed. I’m not entirely sure what we’re going to make of it, but we know what we’re focused on.”

It's true that the biggest threats among receivers are Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy. Kelce is still making nine straight Pro Bowls, while Worthy is the team's new speed burner and deep threat. But Pierce knows it only takes a handful of plays from Hopkins to do damage to the Raiders. And its addition gives them another item on their already long list of things to worry about.
