Apple's first set of Apple Intelligence features rolled out to eligible devices on Monday.

Apple users can get the AI ​​features on iPhone, iPad and Mac devices that can run the technology through the latest software update to their operating system, the tech giant said.

According to Apple, these devices include Apple's entire iPhone 16 lineup as well as the “iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad with A17 Pro or M1 and newer, and Mac with M1 and newer.”

The update to bring Apple Intelligence to the devices – iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1 – can be initiated via the Software Updates sections of their Settings app. The AI ​​features can be used in “most regions of the world when the device and Siri language are set to US English,” it said.

In a press release, CEO Tim Cook called the new features “delivering entirely new experiences and tools that will transform what our users can achieve.”

With the update, Apple Intelligence “gives users the ability to search for almost anything by simply describing what they're looking for” in photos and videos, the Cupertino-based tech giant said. With an AI-powered tool that Apple is launching, they can also cut out “disturbing elements” from photos.

“Writing Tools” are also coming to devices as part of the Apple Intelligence update.

According to Apple, this supports users with the ability to rewrite, proofread and summarize text. It can be used in Mail, Messages and other apps.

Apple customers can also take advantage of new notification summaries “that allow users to scan long or stacked notifications with important details directly on the lock screen,” according to the company. Apple is adding features like “Priority Messages” and “Focus, Reduce Interruptions.”

According to the tech giant, Apple Intelligence will also provide some updates to Siri.

Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of software engineering, said Monday's set of AI features was “just the beginning” and the company said it plans to introduce more in December and subsequent months. For example, ChatGPT access via Writing Tools and Siri will be available in December.

Apple executives said in August that the rollout of Apple Intelligence would be “staggered” in terms of both features and languages.

The introduction of Apple Intelligence features to Apple devices has been highly anticipated since the company first introduced the system at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
