Ariana Grande tells the dejected 'SNL' cast that she doesn't want to do 'Wicked' sketches in a hilarious promo

Ariana Grande would like to clear a few things up before she returns as host of Saturday Night Live this weekend.

A hilarious new promo video released Wednesday says, “So, what?” The singer tells a crowd of “SNL” cast members that she'd “really rather not do anything like 'Wicked' or “The Wizard of Oz” has to do,” referring to sketches.

The camera then cut to “SNL” cast members Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, Marcello Hernández and Andrew Dismukes sitting across from Grande on a couch, dressed as the Cowardly Lion, Dorothy, Scarecrow and Tin Man, respectively, from “The Wizard of Oz.” fame.

After a hilarious pause during which Dismukes considered Grande's question, he replied, “Can we come back in an hour?” Without missing a comedic note, the Grammy winner politely replied, “Sure.”

Grande, of course, will be playing the role of Glinda next month in “Wicked,” the big-screen adaptation of the award-winning Broadway musical (and the novel it's based on).

She previously appeared as a musical guest on “SNL” in 2014 and 2024. In March 2016, she served as both presenter and musical guest.

This week she is joined by musical guest Stevie Nicks.

“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC.
