Astros vs. Guardians Predictions, Picks, Odds – 9-27

Jose Ramirez has been like clockwork all season, but especially at Progressive Field. We're aiming for him to top his hits+runs+RBI base in our Astros vs. Guardians predictions and MLB picks tonight as he continues to hold the ball.

The Cleveland Guardians have already clinched the AL Central, but there's still a lot of work to do – they're one game behind the New York Yankees for the top spot in the AL. If they can put together a winning streak against the Houston Astros, capturing the No. 1 seed remains very likely.

My Astros vs. Guardians predictions feature a red-hot Cleveland team taking care of business at home with superstar Jose Ramirez leading the way.

Let’s break it down further with my September 27 MLB picks.

Astros vs Guardians Prediction

My best choice
Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (-130 at DraftKings)

Best odds in your region

My analysis

Death, taxes and Cleveland Guardians superstar Jose Ramirez sorting out his H+R+RBI line at home. He averaged 2.8 per game in Cleveland this season, scoring at least two in 51 of 76 games. That's an absurd 67% success rate, even though he's rated as if there's a 56% chance of getting the job done.

He enters the series opener in top form, having collected 24 H+R+RBI in the last five games. That's almost five per competition.

Ramirez is on the hunt for a major milestone as he plays through the regular season. He currently sits at 38 home runs, just one away from tying his career high and two shy of surpassing it.

Ramirez also stole 40 bases this season. With a late burst of performance he could join the prestigious 40/40 club.

Supporting one of the game's best batsmen on home soil is always an attractive proposition. I see even more value in this considering the Guardians are still going strong while the Houston Astros are not.

They cannot move up or down the table and could be more conservative in how they use their players in this series – be it resting key players, reducing the number of starting players or trying to keep their best substitutes.

While Ronel Blanco isn't generally a pitcher to target, he has looked a bit more accurate lately, giving up six or more hits in four of his last nine starts after doing so just four times in his first 20.

It's also worth noting that Blanco allows a higher average and more power against left-handed hitters, and the switch-hitting Ramirez should swing from that side of the plate compared to a right-handed hitter like Blanco.

Jose Ramirez over 1.5 H+R+RBI

Steven Kwan Over 0.5 hits

Guardian money line

Steven Kwan is a Ramirez-esque hit machine. Kwan has scored at least one goal in 72% of his games in Cleveland this season, just a few percentage points behind Ramirez (75%).

We support Ramirez's H+R+RBI line, and in theory he'll probably need to use a runner to get the job done. As an elite contact hitter, Kwan should be the guy to lead the way for the Guardians.

With Ramirez and Kwan making noise at the plate, the Guardians have a great chance to win the game, and I like the value that comes from correlating the three legs.
