Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich praises Jamie Leweling after Germany's 1-0 win over the Netherlands

Jamie Leweling from VfB Stuttgart was the hero for Germany at the Allianz Arena with his late goal The team A 1-0 win over the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League secured Germany's place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Julian Nagelsmann wasn't spoiled for choice when selecting his squad for the two games during the October international break due to the numerous injuries to some of the national team's usual suspects, but Leweling proved that there can be other names to look out for in one time of need could count.

A goal by Leweling was also controversially ruled out for offside after a video review took place in the 4th minute of the game when a combination was detected between two Bayern Munich players The Violation. It was assumed that Joshua Kimmich's touch on Serge Gnabry in the build-up to Leweling's goal showed Gnabry in an offside position, but even video recordings made it quite difficult to actually tell, and Kimmich's accusations to the official perhaps represented what that was Majority of Germany fans were worried when the decision was made.

In the end, however, persistence paid off and Leweling's 64th-minute finish proved to be the difference for a German side that was without a host of stars this international break. The Stuttgart player was extremely successful with his technique and hammered home the loose ball that had last touched Nico Schlotterbeck after Tim Kleindienst's header from close range was saved by Bart Verbruggen – the Dutch goalkeeper stood rooted to the spot as Leweling the ball hit with his ball thunderous blow.

After the game, Kimmich was full of praise for Leweling, who couldn't have marked his Germany debut better. “We are very happy, we are very proud of today’s achievement. “Jamie has to be highlighted today, not just because of his goal, he showed an outstanding performance,” Germany’s captain told German television after the final whistle (via BuliNews).

“It’s not often that you get a standing ovation on your debut at the Allianz Arena,” Kimmich added enthusiastically. When the 23-year-old was replaced by Robin Gosens in the 87th minute of the game, the fans in Bayern's historic home venue showed their appreciation not only for his winning goal, but also for his overall performance.

For the next international break for the next round of Nations League games, Nagelsmann will certainly have to consider Leweling's name when it comes to putting together a squad, even if there are players like Kai Havertz, Jamal Musiala, Niclas Füllkrug and Denis Undav everything 100% fit and available.
