Fans in Bengaluru had a bad day as no match could take place on the first day of the first Test between India and New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Persistent rain meant that despite a good drainage system, play was not possible at the facility. One fan, whose name on X is Rohit Haldankar, was particularly unimpressed with the stadium facilities and posted a picture of a dirty seat. “BCCI’s respect for the paying spectator is incredible. This is a picture from the N Stand at Chinnaswamy Stadium,” he wrote.

NDTV cannot independently verify the authenticity of the claim. The fan further said that the ticket price he paid was Rs 2,500.

The first day of the first Test between India and New Zealand was canceled due to rain at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. Due to persistent rain with its stop-start nature, there was insufficient time to prepare the ground for the start of play, resulting in the day being abandoned early. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the toss would take place on the second day at 8:45 am on Thursday.

It was also announced that the first and second sessions have been extended by 15 minutes each, with 98 overs to bowl on the second day. The morning session begins at 9:15 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m. The teams then take a lunch break.

The afternoon session is scheduled from 12:10 to 2:25 p.m., followed by the tea break. The final session will take place from 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

A win in all three Tests against New Zealand will increase India's chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) final to be played at Lord's next year.
