Bedard and Teravainen help the Blackhawks beat the Sharks in their home opener

Hall gave the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead at 4:20 of the first period with the teams playing 4-on-4. He received a pass on the left side from TJ Brodie, ran in and shot the puck between Vanecek's pads.

It was Hall's first goal since November 5, 2023. He only played 10 games last season due to a knee injury.

“Yeah, it’s great,” Bedard said. “He is someone who lived the game. It obviously hurt him not to play and just seeing how much excitement he gets back and how much time he puts in every day. Last year he was positive, helped our whole team and seeing him come back as good as he is. Obviously he got one tonight, it was fun to see.”

Bertuzzi scored on the power play to make it 19:11 and give Chicago a 2-0 lead when he redirected a shot from Teravainen in the slot. The 29-year-old forward signed a four-year, $22 million contract with Chicago on July 1 (average annual value of $5.5 million).

Nick Foligno made it 3-0 with a power play goal 43 seconds into the second period. Foligno stood on the edge of the goal area and initiated a pass from Teravainen, who served him from the right-hand passing circle.

“He just sees,” Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson said of Teravainen. “He sees openings and knows exactly what the next play is before he gets it on the bat. This is indicative of Foligno's goal. I don’t know if Nick was almost ready for it, it came so quickly.”
