Big Meech is released from prison and serves his sentence at the halfway house

The infamous co-founder of the Black Mafia Family crime enterprise has been released from prison… and now he's serving his sentence in more comfortable surroundings in Florida.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons tells TMZ… Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory was transferred Tuesday from FCI Coleman Low in Wildwood to community custody, which is being monitored by the BOP's Miami Residential Reentry Management Office.

According to our sources, Big Meech is currently serving his sentence in a halfway house.

Big Meech was arrested in 2005 and sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008 after being convicted of drug trafficking and money laundering. Earlier this year, a judge reduced his sentence by almost three years.

It's unclear when Big Meech will officially finish his sentence… but the important thing here is that he is no longer in federal prison.

Brittany K. Barnett, Big Meech's attorney and co-founder of the Buried Alive Project, tells TMZ … she is “overjoyed” that Flenory is free after nearly 20 years behind bars and that he has used his time in prison to stand on his own to focus on his personal growth and he now has the opportunity to start a new chapter in his life.

In the meantime, 50 cents was at the forefront of keeping the BMF story alive…delivered a successful documentary and a TV series – and even transformed Meech's son. Lil Meechinto a real actor.

Hip Hop has been rallying around “BMF” for years… Snoop Dogg, 2 Chainz, Lil baby, Yung Miami and even Eminem have guest appearances in the series, which now runs three seasons.

It will be interesting to see if Big Meech comes out in time for the upcoming fourth season, which has already been greenlit.
