Brazil player ratings vs Chile: The Selecao take three points in World Cup qualifying with goals from unlikely heroes like Igor Jesus and Luiz Henrique

Henrique's late substitution made the difference as the Selecao secured a decisive victory despite a sloppy and disappointing performance.

Brazil beat Chile 2-1 in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying on Thursday night, with an 89th-minute winner securing three points. With the win they move from sixth to fourth place in the overall standings, overtaking Ecuador and Bolivia.

In the end, three points are three points, but it was a poor performance from one of South America's most celebrated programs.

The Selecao started the game on the wrong foot and felt the consequences after less than 60 seconds. A sensational header from experienced attacker Eduardo Vargas went over Ederson's head and gave Chile a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the game.

But shortly before half-time, Selecao striker Igor Jesus headed the equaliser. A sensational cross from Manchester City winger Savinho put the ball on a plate for the Botafogo striker.

It was only their second real chance to score on the night as they doubled their lead in the 89th minute through Botafogo's Luiz Henrique, who fired a low shot into the bottom left corner with a minute left in regulation time.

It was a disappointing performance from Dorival Junior's men, who were unable to show strength without their star Vinicius Junior, who missed the game due to injury.

The Selecao coach should now have a warm feeling despite a win. His attacking line-up struggled to play together and his decisions in midfield were confusing – both decisions contributing to the loss of almost two points.
