Brian Kelly shares his thoughts on LSU's win over Arkansas in the post game

The LSU Tigers took care of business Saturday night with a win over Arkansas while remaining undefeated in SEC play. The win was big for the Tigers as they could have easily been sleeping early in the game after a huge win last week, but Brian Kelly had his team prepared. After the game, Brian Kelly spoke about his team's victory in the press conference.

All night, LSU controlled the line of scrimmage rushing for 158 yards averaging 4.3 yards per carry while holding Arkansas to just 38 yards rushing at two yards per carry. Brian Kelly spoke about his team's dominance in the trenches and how encouraging it is to see.

“Those are the things you look for in a football team that is becoming a contender.”

Over the last two games, no one has been more impressive than sophomore linebacker Whit Weeks, who is developing into one of the best linebackers in college football. On Saturday, Weeks added another 9 tackles, a tackle for a loss, a sack and an interception. Brian Kelly spoke about Weeks and how he performs consistently all over the field by saying the following:

“He is active. What stands out is that he is active in almost all games. He’s an elite player in this league.”

One of the traditions we like to see is who Brian Kelly gives the game ball to. On Saturday night, Damian Ramos was the unsung hero, hitting four field goals and two extra points, including a couple of makes from forty or more yards.

The defense is slowly coming into shape and the better this group gets, the better LSU's chances will be in each game. Kelly talked about his defense and its ability to force three turnovers on Saturday.

“Our defense gets the big plays and we turn them into turnovers. We clear the ball, we weren’t lucky.”

On Saturday night, LSU played spoilsport as Arkansas made the bold decision to make LSU their home game, which Kelly addressed at the conclusion of his press conference.

“Maybe next year they’ll think about not requiring us to return home.”

Arkansas won't be able to make LSU its home game next season because the game is at LSU, but we'll see in two years if the Razorbacks are that bold.
