Denver Broncos receiver Josh Reynolds was shot early Friday morning in Denver, the team announced Thursday.

According to police, Reynolds was one of two people shot in the incident.

“Josh Reynolds was the victim of a shooting in Denver on Friday and was treated for minor injuries,” the Broncos said in a statement. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will leave further comment on this matter to the authorities.”

According to published reports, police documents indicate Reynolds was shot once in the left arm and once in the back of the head.

Reynolds was reportedly treated at a Denver-area hospital and later released.

Reynolds, 29, is currently on injured reserve after undergoing surgery for a finger injury. The Broncos played a game against the host New Orleans Saints on Thursday night just hours before the shooting, but Reynolds did not travel.

The police report states that Reynolds and two other people were at a strip club called Shotgun Willie's in the Denver suburb of Glendale and the group left in two separate cars at 2:45 a.m. local time.

Reynolds and a man drove away in an SUV and told police that several vehicles were following them before shots were fired. The other man was shot in the back. The person in the other vehicle suffered injuries from shattering glass.

On Wednesday, Denver police announced the arrests of Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35, in connection with the shooting. The two men are being held on charges of attempted murder and assault.

According to Reynolds' group, there were no problems within the club. They told police that the suspects followed them onto a highway and that four vehicles were behind Reynolds' SUV until it became disabled.

Reynolds missed the last two games due to a broken finger he suffered on October 6 against the Las Vegas Raiders. He has 12 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown this season.

Overall, Reynolds has 232 receptions for 3,116 yards and 20 touchdown catches in 112 games (54 starts) over eight seasons with the Los Angeles Rams (2017-20), Tennessee Titans (2021), Detroit Lions (2021-23) and Broncos.
