Cameras caught Bears DB taunting the crowd before making a huge mistake at Hail Mary

A bad day for the Chicago Bears may have just gotten worse.

On Sunday, the Bears suffered an 18-15 loss to the Washington Commanders when Jayden Daniels hit a last-second 52-yard Hail Mary. It was a serious defensive error that resulted in the ball flying to an uncovered Noah Brown in the end zone.

Shortly after the Commanders' joyous celebration ended at Northwest Stadium, the NFL world discovered the originator of this defensive mistake – and, more importantly, why it happened.

Video from the stadium seats shows Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson taunting Commanders fans as he prepares for the Hail Mary attempt near the goal line. In the video, he points to the fans and turns his back on the game for a few seconds after the ball is snapped. He then turns around and seems surprised that the action has begun. He doesn't start paying attention until Washington's receivers are near the 25-yard line.

Stevenson never recovered from the game.

His job was to follow Brown throughout the game, but he got lost and instead tried to break up the pass near the goal line. In fact, he was the guy who tipped the ball up so that it bounced straight to Brown, who he was supposed to be covering.

And below is a breakdown of what he should do.

Oops.

That's a terrible look from Stevenson. When the play began, he didn't even pay attention and then didn't complete his assignment.

There's a good chance he'll be going through a lot while filming this week.
