Canadiens vs. Kraken prediction, tips and NHL odds

The Montreal Canadiens look to make it their third straight game with a home win over the visiting Seattle Kraken tonight at the Bell Centre.

Montreal has received big performances from its No. 1 line, with Kirby Dach filling in for injured winger Juraj Slafkovsky (shoulder), and our top Kraken vs. Canadiens predictions have Dach continuing the good times, as the puck is scheduled to drop at 7:00 p.m. ET.

My Canadiens analysis

Things are going well for Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach in the top team. He has starred in the last three games alongside leading scorers Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, and Dach has scored a goal and three assists each time and got on the scoresheet.

The trio has scored 5.34 goals per 60 minutes while tilting the ice in their favor with a Corsi-For percentage of 52.2 and a shooting percentage of 55.9% at 5-on-5. Taking the power play into account, they are up to 8.01 goals per 60 minutes.

It's easy to forget that when Dach was drafted third overall in 2019, he was always hoping for a top scoring role. Injuries slowed his offensive development at the highest level, but his running ability, vision and creativity were always on full display.

Badger's interaction with Suzuki and Caufield is not surprising and he wasn't just a co-driver, as two of his three assists discussed were primary helpers. He also put up solid per-60 numbers with 10.67 shots, 15.41 attempts, and 0.93 expected goals against during the said three-game stretch.

The Seattle Kraken were also not an opponent to avoid.

Seattle ranks 20th at 5-on-5 with 48.6 CF% and 48.74 xGF% and has conceded 3.11 goals per game with a penalty kill rate of 76.9.

Dach will have the opportunity to top up the scorecard again this evening.

As previously mentioned, Dach has seen an increase in shot volume, with his standout 10.67 shots and 15.41 attempts per 60 over the last three games being well above his numbers of 7.59 and 9.84 earlier in the year. He also took two or more shots in five of nine games on the year.

As for Suzuki, he leads the Canadiens in points per 60 (3.72) while also leading all Montreal forwards in ice time. The Habs captain has also topped the scoresheet with three goals and eight assists in seven consecutive games.
