Canucks Tyler Myers leaves game against Flyers with injury

Tyler Myers has officially been ruled out of the Vancouver Canucks' game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Canucks defenseman was involved in an awkward collision with Joel Farabee in the first period. After the collision, Myers had to be helped off the ice and was unable to put any weight on his injured leg.

The loss of Myers is significant because he plays a critical role on both the penalty kill and at even strength. In Vancouver's first game of the season, Myers played 19:38, which included 1:52 of shorthanded time. Because of the injury, the Canucks will finish the game with just two right shots, barring any further injuries.

Depending on how long Myers is out, Vancouver may need to call up a defenseman before the start of their road trip. The Canucks play their next four away games, starting with a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 15th. Vancouver returns home on October 26th when they face Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
