Cardi B announces WWE SummerSlam 2025 will take place over two nights at MetLife Stadium

WWE SummerSlam just got bigger.

Cardi B helped WWE announce that SummerSlam will be a two-day event in 2025. The show will take place on August 2 and 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Cardi B and Bianca Belair were featured in the first announcement video, which you can see below. Cardi B also provided “Up” as the theme song for SummerSlam 2021.

WWE will host the 2025 event in conjunction with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA).

“New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and the entire NJSEA team have been phenomenal partners and have hosted several major UFC events over the past few years, including the record-breaking UFC302 in June,” said Peter Dropick, TKO Executive Vice President of Event Development and Operations, in a press release. “We are excited to bring WWE back to New Jersey in a big way with the first two-day event. SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium.”

This is the fourth time SummerSlam has been held in East Rutherford, but it is the first time the show has been held at MetLife Stadium, which hosted WrestleMania 29 and 35. SummerSlam 1989 was held at the Brendan Byrne Arena (which was later renamed the Continental Airlines Arena), and the 1997 and 2007 events were held at the same venue.

The future of SummerSlam

SummerSlam is expected to be a two-day event for the next few years. WWE is calling the 2025 event the first two-day SummerSlam. That's true, but it is not the first two-day SummerSlam that announced.

In May, WWE announced that Minneapolis would host SummerSlam 2026 on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2, 2026 at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings.

Indianapolis will host a future SummerSlam event. Indianapolis' SummerSlam was part of a multi-event agreement that will see the city host a future WrestleMania and the 2025 Royal Rumble.
