Chicago Bulls fans react to Josh Giddey contract news

The Chicago Bulls showed a lot of confidence in former Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey when they traded Alex Caruso for him. Instead of dealing Caruso in the first round, Chicago took Giddey, who they believe can thrive in a more playful role than the one he played toward the end of his time in Oklahoma City.

Monday night was the deadline for Giddey to reach a rookie extension with the Bulls, and that didn't happen.

Via Will Gottlieb of CHGO Sports: “It appears that Giddey and the Bulls were unable to reach an agreement on an extension by the 5:00 p.m. CT deadline.” It's probably wise for the Bulls to end the season to let it run, see how Giddey fits into its core assets over the long term, and let the market determine its value.”

Bulls fans reacted to this news on X.

Via @windycity0810: “Thank God”

Via @chisportsross: “A year of Josh Giddey loan at the expense of losing Alex Caruso or Josh Giddey's multi-year extension?”

Via @CasaGrown: “Isn't this a good move considering all the PG options they have? See who rises to the top, no idk.”

About @MrAnthony_P: “Absolutely. Let him prove it and see what the situation is for him and the team at the end of the season.”

There seems to be a consensus among Bulls fans that while Giddey could be a key part of this team in the long run, he needs to prove it this season before Chicago commits any significant money to him. The Bulls are well-positioned to allow the Giddey situation to develop this way since he is a restricted free agent after this season.
