Chiefs defeat Saints, 26-13, on Monday Night Football

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the New Orleans Saints 26-13 on Monday night in front of a national television audience to remain undefeated this season.

Kansas City was a true three-phase win, racking up 460 yards of offense, converting four field goals and holding New Orleans – the highest-scoring offense in the NFL – to a season-low 13 points.

“It was a great atmosphere for a football game (tonight). The boys could feel that and they rose up,” said head coach Andy Reid. “I think all three phases did a good job tonight. It started with the offensive and defensive lines, they put a lot of pressure on the quarterback and took the pressure off (our) quarterback and we ran the ball well.”

In fact, Kansas City rushed for 139 yards on Monday night thanks to a strong effort from veteran tailback Kareem Hunt, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. It was Hunt's first 100-yard performance since Week 10 of the 2020 season.

“He plays hard,” quarterback Patrick Mahomes said of Hunt. “For someone who didn’t have training camp to have (lots of) carries and catches, (plus) the pass protection and the ability to catch blitzes. Those are the things that go under the radar, and he's done a great job at that.”
