Chisholm confident Yankees will win title: 'We're World Series champs'

Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. has New York winning the Fall Classic despite being just two games into the American League Championship Series against the Cleveland Guardians in his latest bold prediction.

Chisholm's confidence is high after teammate Aaron Judge came out of his playoff loss with a home run and three RBIs in Game 2 on Tuesday, giving the Yankees a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

“We are World Series champions. There’s no further doubt in my mind,” Chisholm said before Thursday’s Game 3 at Cleveland’s Progressive Field, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. “I said it from day one, and without him saying anything. He starts to pull himself together. And now I see it.”

Chisholm already played the role of villain during the American League Division Series when he said the Kansas City Royals “just got lucky” in a Game 2 victory over the Yankees in the Bronx. The 26-year-old was booed in Kansas City, but New York ultimately won the series 3-1. He also accused Maikel Garcia of intentionally trying to injure Anthony Volpe as he slid to second base in Game 4, calling the Royals' third baseman a “poor loser.”

In late September, Chisholm admitted the Yankees had a goal in mind.

“We’re not giving up until we get that ring,” the 2022 All-Star said at the time. “That’s what I’ve been hearing since I’ve been here, and that’s how I feel too.”

The winner of the New York-Cleveland game will face either the Los Angeles Dodgers or the New York Mets in the World Series. LA leads 2-1 in the National League Championship Series.
