Christopher Nolan's new film starring Tom Holland

Now that Christopher Nolan has officially filmed his next film at Universal and hired Matt Damon to star, he has set his sights on another A-lister to join this ensemble. Sources told Deadline that Tom Holland is in talks to co-star.

The film will be released by Imax on July 17, 2026. The date coincides with a number of Nolan films that have had similar release dates in the past.

Universal did not comment on the Holland talks.

As with any Nolan project, plot details are being kept secret, although sources say the film is expected to begin filming in early 2025.

As with any of his upcoming films, top talent always jumps at the opportunity to star in a Nolan film, and it sounds like Holland has been high on the director's wish list to star in for some time. While this is the third time Damon and Nolan have worked together, it will be the first time for Holland and the Oscar win Oppenheimer Directors have teamed up.

Holland is coming off his acclaimed performance in the London stage production of Romeo and Juliet, which ran for 12 weeks at the Duke of York's Theater this summer. It also has a huge box office success behind it Spider-Man: No Way Home, A follow-up picture is in development and Holland is expected to reprise his role as Peter Parker.
