College Football Top 25 Coaches' Poll released after Week 8

The latest Coaches Poll top 25 rankings follow Week 8 of college football and, as expected, there have definitely been some changes.

Georgia shined Saturday night with a win over Texas en route to shaking up the SEC. It's going to be very interesting as we're firmly in the second half of the season.

Let's take a look at the latest Coaches' Poll top 25 rankings after Week 8.

The Oregon Ducks left no room for doubt with a 35-0 victory over Purdue on Friday night. That followed a home win against Ohio State in epic fashion.

Dillon Gabriel was 21 of 25 passes for 290 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. Jordan James added 50 yards on the ground on just 10 carries, along with two touchdowns, helping Oregon improve to 7-0.

Georgia had a lot of questions and Texas had a lot of answers this past weekend. Well, turn that around. The Bulldogs earned their biggest win of the season, beating the Longhorns on the road 30-15.

Carson Beck was shut down three times, but Georgia's stifling defense gave them a 23-0 halftime lead. Trevor Etienne had 87 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

The Nittany Lions had a week off after winning on the road in overtime against USC. Do you have two weeks to prepare for Wisconsin and Ohio State? Urgently needed.

Penn State is undefeated and continues to be one of the quieter teams at the top of the rankings. There's a lot of excitement around Oregon and Ohio State, but this could be Penn State's year.

The Buckeyes needed a week off after losing on the road to Oregon. But Ohio State is still in a good position to win the Big Ten and earn a high playoff spot.

First it's a date with Nebraska before taking on Penn State in one of the most anticipated games in the conference. A loss doesn't change this team's prospects.

Miami had to deal with more heartbreak as the Hurricanes defeated Louisville 52-45. The ACC's top team improved to 7-0 on the season.

Cam Ward was a star again, throwing for 319 yards and four touchdowns, while Damien Martinez ran for 89 yards and a score. Miami hosts Florida State next week, which is on a downward spiral.

The Texas Longhorns lost their first game of the season, losing one to Georgia 30-15. Is there a QB controversy?
Steve Sarkisian said no, although he subbed Arch Manning in the second quarter, but then brought Quinn Ewers back into the game to score a turnover. He may have inadvertently rocked the boat.

7. LSU (+1)

LSU won its sixth straight game and improved to 6-1 on the season with a 34-10 road win over Arkansas. Caden Durham was the star of the show, scoring three touchdowns on a 101-yard run.

LSU will play a ranked game next weekend at Texas A&M. Both are 1-6 after a season-opening loss, so all eyes are on College Station!

Tennessee won its rivalry game against Alabama 24-17, improving to 6-1 and handing Alabama its second SEC loss of the year. The Vols forced two interceptions from Jalen Milroe and scored all 24 points in the second half.

It was undoubtedly a tremendous victory. Tennessee must suddenly like its path to the SEC Championship and the College Football Playoff. Four more SEC games and a non-conference with the one game against Georgia. It'll be fun.

Clemson needed a lot of points in this game, a 48-31 win over Virginia. Still, the Tigers have now won six games in a row after everyone questioned Dabo Swinney after the opening weekend.

It was another solid performance for Cade Klubnik, who threw for 308 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Clemson faces a bye week before hosting Louisville.

Phew, breathe, Cyclone fans. That was close. Iowa State improved to 7-0 this season with a 38-35 win over UCF.

Rocco Becht threw two interceptions, but he threw a touchdown and ran for two more, in addition to 97 yards on the ground. Carson Hansen helped him with two touchdowns and 91 rushing yards.
