Colorado's backup plan for Julian Lewis shows that Deion Sanders isn't afraid of anyone

Deion Sanders and Colorado Football are coming. They're coming for the Big 12 and they're coming for a 5-star QB from the 2025 class. And if it's not Julian Lewis, QB Shedeur Sanders specifically wants to replace himit could be that Alabama signs Keelon Russell.

Yes indeed. Coach Prime goes behind Crimson Tide successor Jalen Milroe. Sanders picks an Alabama team that just lost to Vanderbilt and looks to capitalize on Colorado's current momentum.

Coach Prime is not afraid of anyone. Certainly not Kalen DeBoer, who lost his fan base with his clothing. Sanders can't understand that. He lets Buffs fans in the stands at Folsom Field put on his cowboy hat, sunglasses and gold chain.

Sanders isn't afraid of Nick Saban either. Saban still receives his salary from the Crimson Tide and has an office at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The GOAT college football coach is still heavily involved in the recruiting process in Tuscaloosa. Not like he used to be, but he still is.

Coach Prime comes for the top of the top. Trading Lewis from USC would be a statement, but trading Russell from Alabama would signal a seismic shift in the sport.

Sanders has talked about the unfortunate reality of modern recruitingbut at the college level, that's essentially the only way he's recruited. Coach Prime's first year as HC at Jackson State fell during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, which was played in the spring of 2021.

Sanders can say he feels for the Sabans of the world who saw the game pass them by, but he's not one of that old guard. Coach Prime is the perfect example of how to navigate this new, fast-paced world of quick flips and transfers.

Flipping Russell would be the clearest proof of this concept.
