Colorado's Deion Sanders has been blunt in his assessment of his son's play following an arm injury

The Colorado Buffaloes' resurgence failed Saturday night when they suffered a 31-28 loss to No. 18 Kansas State.

Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders, one of head coach Deion Sanders' children, returned to the field after missing a month recovering from arm surgery and recorded seven tackles in the game. But Coach Prime didn't like his style of play.

“I thought he played terribly,” Sanders said. “I thought he was rusty. I thought he had no grip.”

Sanders pointed to a play where Shilo Sanders lost his footing while trying to make a tackle on Wildcats running back DJ Giddens. The junior running back made it look like Sanders was stuck in the cement.

Giddens had 182 rushing yards on 25 carries for Kansas State.

Colorado has allowed at least 30 points in two of its last three games. They entered Saturday night's match on a three-game winning streak.

The last seven minutes of the game were the most exciting. Kansas State had a 10-point lead until Isaiah Augustave cut the deficit to three points with a 2-yard rushing touchdown with 6:44 to play.

Then, with 3:12 left, Shedeur Sanders found LaJohntay Wester for an 11-yard touchdown pass to take the lead.

Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson reached out and found Jayce Brown for a 50-yard catch-and-run while shaking off a Colorado defender to score the touchdown. Kansas State had the lead at that point and won the game.

“Sometimes when you lose in life, you get kicked in the butt and you just have to take it. Sometimes you lose and say, 'Damn, we should have won that. We should have had that,'” Deion Sanders said.
