Cooler air is here!

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Behind a strong cold front, things will be windy, dry and significantly cooler today, tonight and tomorrow. Wednesday will be sunny and dry, with high temperatures only in the lower to mid 70s, starting in the 50s.

Winds will be breezy at times throughout the day, northeasterly 10-20 mph, gusting to 25 mph.

A red flag warning is in effect until 7pm this evening due to windy and dry conditions forecast for Wednesday. Given this increased risk of fire weather, please refrain from burning outdoors.

The wind will die down tonight and with clear skies we can expect a cold night with lows in the mid 40s in the city and lower 40s in the north!

In the tropics we have two highlighted areas, one with a medium probability of development. Neither poses a threat to Louisiana.

Moving forward, no rain is expected over the next ten days as temperatures rise again later in the forecast.
