Cougar Food Pantry is seeing increasing need from WSU students

“At least 50 students come throughout the day and demand has increased, Especially in the last few semesters,” she said. “Many people have forgotten the pantry, or new students didn't know. We are working hard to create more awareness campusS.”

While many students benefit from the pantry, so do graduate students, especially those with Families tend to rely on it the most. They are often under additional financial pressure and are better informed about available resources on campus.

“Many graduate students use the pantry, especially those with families,” Phillips said. “They pay a lot for school and often do more research into these resources.”

The pantry relies on donations from local businesses such as Rosauers, Safeway, WinCo, and WSU Farms. Despite the generosity, a steady supply of food and other things is guaranteed Necessities remains a challenge.

“Money is always helpful,” Phillips explained. “We are constantly investing resources in this Pantry, and additional donations would be very helpful if more students come.”

Phillips emphasized that community members can get involved through food donations and hosting Conduct fundraisers or volunteer. Although Phillips doesn't always hear the personal stories of those who visit the pantry, She knows it makes a differenceespecially for student families.

“I see a lot of parents coming and we have received a lot of diaper donations,” she shared. “I I didn't know how many kids we had on campus, but diapers are running out fast. It helps you lots of families.”

As WSU’s food supplies continue to grow, so does its impact. Students whether they are When you're juggling homework or parenting, you can feel supported knowing this resource is there them.
