Deebo Samuel Sr. of the 49ers scores on a 76-yard touchdown

SEATTLE – Entering the second quarter of Thursday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers finally found the cure for their red zone woes.

The answer? Don't stage plays there.

After their first drive failed at Seattle's 7 and had to settle for a field goal, the 49ers got a much-needed blitz on their third possession.

On first-and-10 of their 24 plays, Niners coach Kyle Shanahan dialed up a play-action pass as quarterback Brock Purdy faked the handoff to running back Jordan Mason, rotated his hips and fired one down the left sideline to receiver Deebo Samuel Sr .threw.

As Seahawks safety Julian Love approached, Samuel jumped and made the catch, although Love couldn't get a hold of the ball or Samuel. Samuel took care of the rest, rushing 53 yards after hauling in the ball for the 76-yard touchdown.

For Samuel, this was the second-longest touchdown of his career and his third touchdown of 75 yards or more in his career. There were two of them against Seattle.

The extra point gave the 49ers a 10-0 lead, which they extended to 13-0 shortly thereafter with another field goal.
