Derek Carr injury update: ESPN broadcast updates status of Saints QB

Monday Night Football was a real challenge for the New Orleans Saints against the Kansas City Chiefs as they were down by 10 points late in the fourth quarter. They may have to travel the rest of the way without their quarterback Derek Carr goes back to the locker room after an injury.

“Carr is out of the tent and walking down the sideline without a helmet,” Ross Jackson said of the X. “Looks like he’s on his way to the locker room.”

ESPN's Lisa Salters provided an update as the broadcast showed Carr walking into the locker room and saying it was an oblique injury. His official appointment is questionable, but if he doesn't return in time, New Orleans will be in the mix Jake Haener.

Carr completed 18 of 28 passes, including 165 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Kansas City's defense was able to generate pressure all night long without allowing Carr to get comfortable. Although New Orleans had some incredible offensive performances early in the season, this wasn't one of them.

Monday's game at Arrowhead Stadium is largely out of doubt with New Orleans trailing by two points and not much time left. Carr's injury immediately raises questions about the future, as the Saints will likely fall to 2-3.

Unfortunately, playing on Monday night means they're in for a short week. Worse, next up is a divisional opponent – the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kickoff at home is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT, making the week even shorter.

Carr and his health will play a big role going forward and he wonders if he can play in a crucial NFC South matchup. If not, Haener could be the one until the slash is fully healthy again. beginner Spencer Rattler from South Carolina is also on the roster.
