Devin White makes cryptic social media post amid Eagles drama

Philadelphia Eagles LB Devin White's tenure with the organization got off to a rocky start and he has now posted a cryptic post on social media that expresses his belief in himself.

The former All-Pro has yet to play in a game with the organization, but his short stint has been marred by injuries, deleted Twitter posts and general distractions. There is hope that White could finally make his debut after the bye week, although some fans are rightly already exhausted by his antics.

Nakobe Dean took over the starting position while White was sidelined. What once seemed like a bargain signing has now turned into a headache for everyone involved.

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with a post like this. White remained consistent in his beliefs. At first glance, this is just an athlete expressing confidence and optimism.

However, combined with all the other mishaps, it's fair to wonder what White's attitude was during the bye week. If he doesn't get the playing time he's hoping for, could he become a bigger distraction for the rest of the season?

The 2019 first-round pick struggled in 2023 but was an effective defender up to that point. He recorded 124 tackles, 5.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries in 2022, but fell out of favor after that impressive season in Tampa Bay. White signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia in hopes of rebuilding his value, but his value has only gone down.

He believes the best is yet to come. Maybe he's right. The Eagles would certainly be better off for it, especially considering the defense ranks 30th in the NFL in receiving yards per game (6.0).

If he overcomes his injury and becomes a productive player, White could still get the big contract he wants. At this point, however, it's hard to argue that he's been anything other than a frustrating distraction.
