Diego Pavia: Vandy's “team full of dogs”, only God knows who will win the Alabama game

Diego Pavia is confident Vanderbilt will be ready when Alabama comes calling on Saturday, even though the Commodores have scored just three points in the last three meetings.

“This is a whole new team,” the Vandy quarterback said earlier this week. “You know, the NIL era is, you know – every team is going to be different every year, but we have a team full of dogs that prepare every week like they want to play on Sunday.”

Alabama (4-0, 1-0) comes into the game after a wild 41-34 win over Georgia last week, while Vanderbilt (2-2, 0-1) is coming off a 30-27 loss in double overtime. NO. 7 Missouri. They also opened the season by defeating Virginia Tech in overtime.

“You know, we fell just short of the No. 7 team in the nation. So we have to overcome this small gap and get some wins here,” Pavia said.

“Yes, the whole team is excited to get out there on Saturday,” Pavia said. (Randon Fontenette) said it best, you know. “If you’re depressed about it, then you’re not an s-word,” he actually said. Get up and get back to work. That's exactly what we did. The Saturday we came out, we were punching each other in the face all day Saturday or Sunday. You know, today was a great practice, so we’ll be fired up and ready to go.”

In the last three meetings, Alabama has scored 34, 59-0 and 55 points.

That doesn't bother Pavis.

“The only person who knows who will win on Saturday is God,” Pavia said. “We will be prepared. We will do everything we can to win a football game.”
