Digital Edition – News and weather webcast for September 30, 2024

WEST VIRGINIA AND VIRGINIA (WVVA) – Here is a quick look at some of the closures and services announced on social media for *some* counties in our viewing area as we recover from recent storm damage.

SCHOOL SYSTEMS closed as of this posting: MERCER, TAZEWELL, WYOMING, MCDOWELL, BLAND.

GILES is virtual and asks students to spend the virtual day cleaning up and helping those in need.

**The refreshment and recharging stations for Montcalm and Matoaka take place at the respective volunteer fire departments.**

Specific details about each company and how they operate can be found on social media. We have also shared many of these on our News page and our News Talent pages.

Please feel free to message us about additional closures or services or add them to this post on Facebook

Jeffrey also has your weather outlook for Monday in this video.

Today it will be quite cloudy again and the weather will be similar to Sunday. The thunderstorm season this afternoon is mainly between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The storms will be scattered throughout nature, so random events will occur more frequently. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s and low 70s. Rainfall amounts are expected to range from a tenth of an inch to a quarter of an inch of rain, with larger amounts possible during thunderstorms

As we head out today, flooding is a concern as there is a low risk of excessive rainfall in our area. A flood warning goes into effect for Pocahontas County this afternoon and continues through this evening. Any storm that comes up could end up dropping a lot of rain, and with the water problems we've had, that could end up causing even more flooding. Stay weather conscious!

Thanks for watching and have a blessed Monday.
