Dodgers news: Kiké Hernández, Max Muncy, Yoshinobu Yamamoto

LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers won the National League Division Series and are now in the National League Championship Series, but first let's look back at some stories from Friday's win over the Padres in Game 5.

Previously After the game, he told Ken Rosenthal on Fox television, “We don't give a shit.”and before his home run on Friday, Kiké Hernández led a meeting with Dodgers players after the Game 3 loss in San Diego. Fabian Ardya of The Athletic has more:

The key, Mookie Betts said, “was to just keep fighting.” The Padres had staged a stress test against an injury-riddled Dodgers club. San Diego had irritated these Dodgers and pushed them to their limits. Now it was time to remember what gave them the best record in baseball.

The message was succinct.

F – everyone.

Dave Roberts and other Dodgers had high praise for the Padres and Los Angeles won the hard-fought series. “I wanted to beat those guys,” Roberts said. “We all really wanted to beat these guys.”

Third baseman Max Muncy in the clubhouse after the game noted various pundits and speakers who predicted the Padres would beat the Dodgers in the NLDS. From Alden Gonzalez at ESPN:

“What was going on, 80% of the sex experts said we would lose?” Muncy said. “F— these boys. We know who we are. We’re the best damn team in baseball and we’re out there to prove it.”

Andy McCullough of The Athletic wrote about Yoshinobu Yamamoto's outstanding five scoreless innings, which were much-needed and a huge rebound from a “disappointing” performance in Game 1.

Yamamoto's support from his teammates was widespread. From McCullough:

“He’s one of the best pitchers in the world,” backup catcher Austin Barnes said.

“Everyone wrapped their arms around him,” pitching coach Mark Prior said.

“Every now and then,” the injured veteran said Clayton Kershaw said, “You just have to remind him: You’re a stud. You could be a newbie. But you’re a stud.”
