Dolphins' Tyreek Hill will play despite foot injury

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill will play in today's game against the Arizona Cardinals despite an injury that has placed him on the “questionable” list.

Hill was placed on the injury report as a limited participant on Thursday due to a foot injury and did not practice on Friday. Head coach Mike McDaniel is reportedly optimistic about the wide receiver's availability, and all signs point to him being on the field today.

This is particularly good news for the Dolphins since quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has also been sidelined since Week 2 when he suffered a concussion. The quarterback suffered multiple concussions throughout his career but was apparently given the green light by his doctors to return this week.

The Dolphins' offense has suffered in Tagovailoa's absence, making the possibility of Hill not being able to play just as his quarterback returned a pretty big deal. Hill himself said of the QB: “If Tua is part of this offense, nobody can stop us, bro. We should score points every day. That’s how I see it. We have too much talent.”

He's right. Since joining the Dolphins (from the Chiefs) in 2022, Hill has put up record-setting numbers, recording a career-high 1,799 receiving yards during the 2023 season.

Having both Tagovailoa and Hill back on the field will undoubtedly give the Dolphins a huge boost compared to the Cardinals, although some question the quarterback's willingness to return.

The player's former coach at the University of Alabama, Nick Saban, said: “I'm worried because I want Tua to be safe and healthy and not have a football career that will affect him down the road. Because I think organizationally it is a medical decision and not an organizational decision. People will look at him and say: why are they letting him play, so it's a medical decision?

Fortunately for everyone involved, Hill's injury appears to have been significantly less serious. Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle was also placed on the injury report this week, but his quadriceps issue did not result in an injury rating. It appears the Dolphins' offense will be at capacity in Week 8.
