Through two games, the Golden Knights look like an offensive juggernaut. In just six periods of play, they scored 12 goals, including the goal line, which equates to 17 points. It's the hottest offensive start in franchise history, but it's not necessarily a new phenomenon since Bruce Cassidy took over as head coach.

Under Cassidy, Vegas averaged nearly four goals per game through the first 15 games of the season. In their first season, VGK scored 57 goals in their first 15 games, in their second year they raised the bar with 58 and now they are well on their way to another excellent start with 12 in two games.

Pete DeBoer and Gerard Gallant had decent success early in the season, but their teams weren't as offensive as Cassidy's.

First 15 games
24-25: 12 GF, 7 GA
23-24: 58 GF, 32 GA
22-23: 57 GF, 34 GA

21-22: 47 GF, 46 GA
20-21: 45 GF, 37 GA

19-20: 49 GF, 45 GA
18-19: 34 GF, 42 GA
17-18: 52 GF, 44 GA

It's never easy to score in this league. But it's still early in the season and the guys are getting their feet under them and getting even more comfortable, so you might see a little looser play, but it's getting tighter quickly. -Acorn

At the start of the year, points across the league are rising. 11 of the 32 teams score at least four goals per game in the first week of the year, and history shows that this will likely continue until October.

You have seen some high scores in many games so far. I don't know exactly what that means, but we're taking advantage of it and stopping it on our side at the same time. -Theodore

Cassidy doesn't think it's a coincidence that his teams are off to good starts.

I'd like to think we're prepared. Usually this is a result of a good camp. -Cassidy

Unfortunately, the points yield for VGK decreases significantly over the course of the season. In the second 15 games of the season, the score dropped from 3.8 goals per game to 2.9. Therefore, it is paramount for the Golden Knights to take advantage of this now.

Vegas is now 6-0-0 in the first two games of the season under its third head coach. They won the third game last year and the year before, so get ready for more fireworks tomorrow night when Anaheim comes to town.
