Elon Musk presents two-seater robotaxi

“It will be a glorious future,” Musk said, although not for families or groups of three or more people.

Musk claims that Tesla “expects to introduce fully unattended FSD on public roads in California and Texas next year.” A recent analysis by an independent testing company found that the current design requires human intervention about every 13 miles, often on roads it previously used.

Being able to carry only two passengers is quite inefficient when a city bus can carry more than 80 passengers.

The Cybercab is scheduled to appear “before 2027,” and, according to Musk, will be built in “very large numbers.” Tesla watchers will no doubt be interested in similar claims about the model. Later, Musk presented the audience with a video of an articulated robot arm with a vacuum cleaner attachment cleaning the Cybercab's two-seat interior. Whether this will be sold as an aftermarket accessory to Cybercab owners or whether they should clean their robotaxis by hand between rides remains unclear at this time.

Musk also unveiled another autonomous concept, the Robovan. It is a small bus with no visible wheels, but with a brightly lit interior for up to 20 passengers. Musk said little about the Robovan and how it affects Tesla's future. In 2017, he revealed his dislike of public transport, saying “it's a pain in the ass” and that other passengers could be serial killers.

After promising that “unsupervised FSD” would be available on all five Tesla models – “now is not the time for nuance,” Musk told a fan – he showed off a driverless minibus and then a horde of humanoid robots that appear to be the using the same technology that Tesla says will be ready for unsupervised autonomous driving. These robots – “your very own R2-D2,” he said – will apparently cost less than “$30,000” in the long run, Musk claimed, adding that this would be the biggest product ever, as all 8 billion People living there The Earth would want one, then two, he predicted.
