Ernest Jones IV Trade: How many 2025 NFL Draft picks the Seattle Seahawks have now

The Seattle Seahawks have made another big move just two weeks before the trade deadline. On Wednesday, Seattle agreed to a deal that sends linebacker Jerome Baker and a 2025 fourth-round pick to the Tennessee Titans, replacing inside linebacker and former Los Angeles Rams starter Ernest Jones IV.

Even though the 2025 NFL Draft is still six months away, it's worth taking stock of what the Seahawks currently have. Technically, Seattle only has five picks next year, but (barring any other trades) they are tentatively projected to have seven draft selections.

The Seahawks' current 2025 draft pick haul

Round 1: 1 selection (native)

Round 2: 1 selection (native)

Round 3: 1 selection (native)

Round 4: Expected 1 picks (compared to Damien Lewis)

Round 5: Projected 1 pick (versus Jordyn Brooks)

Round 6: 1 pick (via Chicago Bears for trading Darrell Taylor)

Round 7: 1 selection (native)

In total: 7 picks (2 planned)

What happened to all the homegrown picks?

Apparently the fourth-round pick was just traded to the Titans, so a homegrown pick is gone. Then the fifth-rounder from last year's trade for Leonard Williams goes to the New York Giants. Seattle traded a sixth-rounder to the Jacksonville Jaguars in August for Trevis Gipson. This sixth-rounder was waived after Seattle acquired a sixth-rounder from the Chicago Bears for Darrell Taylor.

When will the comp picks be awarded?

Generally, the NFL announces compensatory picks in March, the month before the draft. The free agent deals of Damien Lewis and Jordyn Brooks and the fact that the Seahawks are losing more CFAs (compensatory free agents) than they gained mean Seattle is finally getting some comp picks for the first time since 2020.

What's probably somewhat surprising is that the comp picks are effectively replacing the homegrown picks John Schneider traded away, as opposed to bonuses, to give Seattle plenty of draft capital for the future.
