Evanston's Election Guide: Everything you need to know for the 2024 general election

The 2024 U.S. General Election will take place on Tuesday, November 5, and polls across Evanston will be open to voters from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone in line before 7 p.m. has the right to stay in line and cast their vote. Ahead of the big day, full early voting begins in Evanston and throughout Cook County on Monday, October 21st.

Where can I vote on election day?

Voters are informed that the Cook County Clerk's Office has updated the Evanston voting district boundaries to align with those of the city Redistributed district boundariesand that their polling locations may have changed accordingly, even if they were not redistricted to a different district.

The round table strongly recommended All voters use the county clerk “Your Voter Information” check your precinct number and polling place before voting on Election Day. The new boundaries can also be viewed in the map below.

Can I still register to vote?

Yes, the State Board of Elections is allowing residents to register to vote online through Sunday, October 20th. on this websiteand Illinois also expands a “grace period” Voters can register in person at their local polling station up to and including Election Day.

To register, you must provide two forms of identification, one of which shows that you have lived at your current address for at least 30 days before Election Day. Evanston Voting website lists acceptable forms of identification. The League of Women Voters website can also help.
