Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 8: Drake Maye, Rhamondre Stevenson vs. Jets

The New England Patriots were among the least productive offenses in football through the first seven weeks of the season. They scored just 14.1 points per game (tied for 30th) and averaged just 262.9 yards per game (30th).

This meant that most of their players were not fantasy relevant.

Running back Rhamondre Stevenson had a few good games locally and rookie quarterback Drake Maye has looked competent since taking over as the starter two weeks ago.

In Week 8, fantasy football owners shouldn't be considering many Patriots for their lineup, but if it's a deeper league or there's an injury or bye week, they may have to. Should fantasy owners use either Maye or Stevenson in Week 8 when New England hosts the New York Jets? Let's discuss.

Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 8: Drake Maye

Maye has looked solid in his first two games, averaging 16.3 fantasy points, but he also had a few turnovers (all against the Houston Texans). His lack of support around him between the offensive line and the weapons makes him a tough guy every week. And considering the Jets' defense allows the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, it might be best to go in a different direction.

Verdict: Sit 'Em

Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 8: Rhamondre Stevenson

Stevenson began the year with 201 yards and two touchdowns in New England's first two games. He also ran for another 89 yards and a score in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins. Other than that, he was pedestrian, running for 84 yards on 3.2 yards per attempt in his other three games.

Against the Jaguars last week, he managed just 18 yards on seven attempts while trying to recover from a foot injury that knocked him out of the game in Week 6 against Houston.

Until the Patriots prove they can focus on the run again, it's probably best to look elsewhere.

Verdict: Sit 'Em
